Down with the old. Save with the New

Your Local REALTOR, is spilling the beans on blog #2,

If you are one of the many stuck in the bumper to bumper traffic on Reid street, that only moves when the light is red. You might have noticed a slight change in scenery. Just be careful not to rubberneck too hard or else you might be prone to getting a red light ticket in the near vicinity like me. Not so fun fact, Florida generates roughly over a 100 million dollars a year for those babies too. Just when you think yearbook pictures are expensive.

In case many of you haven't noticed the sign and the bulldozers where a building once stood next to the old Winn-Dixie. Surprise. Another free-standing Dollar General is coming to Palatka! I know some of you might not be so ecstatic about it. It's not the Target with a Starbucks we hoped for. Let's face it though, our down town could use any kind of face lift it could get. Somebody call 90210.

Why do you see so many? Because you pay so less! Hint my sarcasm Folks. Putnam county now claims about 15 Dollar General stores county wide. So what's the real deal? A dime a dozen sounds logical to me. How about over a million of the stores were built or renovated nation wide just this past year. Some convenient. Some nearly walking distance apart for our coupon athletes out there. While the prices might be low. Dollar General is on the rise. Like a 10% increase in the stock market for Dollar General stock. My 401k just got switched to aggressive plan this year!

Did you know the average person prefers a 5-10 minute commute for shopping? If that's not good enough their is always Amazon. Personal preference for me, anything is better then going to Wal-Mart. The richest retail store in the world can't even keep more then 2 registers open sometimes. Not to mention having to handle your shopping like a gladiator fighting off people. So maybe their is a silver lining to our clouds produced by Seminole and Georgia Pacific. Each new improvement we get is a franchise investing in our little town. Something our community downtown I'm sure will appreciate.

As a local Real Estate Agent here in town I try to spread the positivity of what's going on in our community. How our town is developing. What's new. What brings people to live here. It's a way of life for many of us. I'm glad to live here. I'm thankful to call my clients my "friends".  And even if it is just another Dollar General, at least it's no longer a rotting old building there anymore. We're turning a new page one place at a time.
